Some of the most meaningful leadership moments don’t come from answers
They come from hashtag#awareness.
While facilitating an hashtag#Emotionalintelligence workshop for a leadership cohort at the largest hashtag#realestate entity in hashtag#Dubai, I was reminded of how rarely leaders are invited to notice what’s happening beneath the surface.
We began simply – naming emotions at work.
Excitement. Irritation. Anxiety. Frustration. hashtag#Hope.
What followed was powerful.
Leaders explored how quickly we move from unaware to reactive, how easily we slip into familiar patterns – fixing, rescuing, one-upping and how often cognitive distortions quietly shape our judgments.
One of the strongest moments came during reflection:
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐈 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬?
Credit to this cohort for leaning in with honesty, curiosity, and humility – and to the organization for recognizing that emotional intelligence isn’t a “soft” capability, but a hashtag#leadership cornerstone.
Because leadership isn’t just about what you drive.
It’s about what you notice, regulate, and make possible in others along the way.
